CENTENNIAL GALA
April 23, 2007

On Saturday April 14th, group of youth from the Guru Gobind Singh Children's Foundation represented the Foundation at a Vaisakhi Gala held in downtown Toronto. The Canadian Centennial Foundation honoured Sikh heritage in Canada by recognizing highly acclaimed individuals in the Sikh community. Some of those honoured there included: Waris Singh, a famous fashion designer from the states; Valerie Kaur, creator of the acclaimed documentary "Divided We Fall: Americans in the Aftermath"; Bicky Singh, president of sikhpoint.com; and Dr. Sheela Basrur, Ontario's own Chief Medical Officer of Health. Also there was the GGGSCF’s very own star athlete - 96 year-old marathon runner and world-record holder Fauja Singh. We would like to extend a thank you to the Centennial Foundation for allowing the GGSCF to set up a booth at the event.
