GGSCF CELEBRATES CANADA DAY
July 4, 2007

On Sunday July 1st over 50 volunteers from the GGSCF took part in the Canada Day celebrations by taking part in the parade in Scarborough. The parade starts from the old Scarborough Town Centre and goes along Brimley Road from Ellesmere Avenue to Lawrence Avenue, a distance of about 2 km. This was the 5th year for the GGSCF in taking part in this parade. Sophia, the organizer of the GGSCF participation this year, was very happy as more volunteers came out and also there were more spectators than last year. This meant children/youth performed the gathka, others did bhangra in Punjabi costumes, other handed out red and white balloons, and some handed out candy to children along the route. The event was much enjoyed by all present and is a good way of showing our pride of Canada
