Event Details ____________________________________________________________________________________________

What: Join us in this fun family event as we journey down scenic trails and through parkland along Scarborough's Highland Creek! See the fall colours, admire the natural beauty, and discover a new part of our city, all while keeping active and healthy.
Start: 9:00am
Finish: 1:00pm
Where: Starting at Thomson Memorial Park, (Brimley Rd. & Lawrence Ave.), we will venture along Highland Creek through Morningside Park and the University of Toronto before finishing along the Lake Ontario waterfront.
How to get there: Participants can carpool from Scarborough Gurdwara at 8:25am and/or drive down to the start themselves, where there is free parking. After the walk, you'll be dropped off back at the start. If you need a ride from elsewhere, email us and we'll see if we can connect you with someone coming from your area.
Walking: Anyone is welcome to walk and you may do so at your own pace. We will however have a main group if you're uncomfortable on your own. Although we challenge you to walk as much as you can, we will pick up anyone who is unable to complete the full 14.5km distance and take them to the finish. Although the majority of the trail is paved, some parts are steep/unpaved and not suitable for strollers.
Weather: Please dress appropriately for the weather. The event will take place rain or shine!
Deadline: Please register by Sunday October 16, so we can make appropriate arrangements. More details will be communicated by email to those who register.

The Route ____________________________________________________________________________________________

We will start at Thomson Memorial Park, which surrounds the historical houses of David and Mary Thomson and their descendants who were the first Europeans to settle in present-day Scarborough.
Along wooded residential trails we'll arrive at Cedar Ridge Park and Gardens, where stands the stunning early 20th-century home of John Campbell Fraser, which features beautifully landscaped gardens. Through tree-canopied corridors we venture to Morningside Park, where the east and west branches of Highland Creek meet.
Sneaking through the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus, we follow the meanders of the creek under towering bridges before reaching Lake Ontario. After a short stretch along the shoreline, we finish our adventure at Port Union Waterfront Park.
