Trials for Run Across Canada

18 May 2009 No Comment

trials-group.jpg On May 17th trial runs were held for the run this summer in Bhagat Puran Singh Park at Scarborough Gurdwara. Five teams of runners from across the GTA, with 10 on each team, ran in a total distance of 177.6 km in 3 hours. The distance covered in 3 hours by the teams ranged from 30.4km to 40.4km. As pointed out to participants this is half of what is required from them each day and for some teams for 3 weeks continuous. The trials also showed those who have been working out as many of those who have been coming to the practice sessions were comfortable while others struggled and still need to get in shape. We are now 6 weeks away from the start of the event so there is still time for many of us to get in shape. trials-runners.jpg  The fastest average time for 1km was 212 seconds and average time for all the groups was 302 seconds. Teams are also starting to fill with little space left on the east and west teams but still lots of opportunity in the central team. Download the Trial Results and see how you did. The next trial run will be held at the same place on Sunday May 31. You can see video of the runners on YouTube. Some of the sponsors for the event also turned up and also took part in the practice as the momentum for the run begins. Be a part of this, come out to the practice runs and get involved either as runners or as volunteers in the base team to help collect funds for the children’s hospitals we are supporting.
