Run Day 2
Route 100 to Argentia
Newfoundland & Labrador

The first day was a long one for us which helped to make the second day a short one, since we only had about 40kms remaining to cover in Newfoundland before catching the Ferry from Argentia, NL to North Sydney, NS.

An excellent positive note to the day was set right from the beginning when we saw our own Sophia Randhawa & Pavan Ubhi, featured in the local newspaper. (Read the article here) The two teams split the day, and only had about 1.5 hours of running to do before catching the Ferry. It was a nice slow day for us, with some challenging areas of the route, but at the same time, some really scenic scenes to enjoy as well.

Although we were supposed to catch the Ferry back to Nova Scotia around 4pm, it was delayed, and by the time we left the dock, it was around 8pm. This allowed us to relax and enjoy the scenery a little while we had lunch (courtesy of course of our wonderful hosts, the Newfoundland Sikh Society), and some of us went for a great hike at the Backland Trails, just before the Ferry Terminals in Argentia. Some of the kids also had the chance to check out the Military Base, which was a great experience, and gave us the chance to say good-bye for now to Newfoundland & Labrador. The warm hospitality we received from the province was a great start to the run – we received plenty of encouragement from locals and visitors alike, in the form of donations ($40), honks, waives, and even some dog barks!

Our first province, successfully and pleasantly completed – what an achievement, and beginning to the run, full of wonderful memories, experiences, and excitement! Standards of all sorts have been set quite high by Newfoundland & Labrador, and we’re excited to see what the rest of the country has in store for us!
