July 13 - Quebec City

July 13, 2009
Stage 13
St-Michel De B., QC to Batiscan, QC.

The morning started with an Ardas along the banks of the St. Lawrance River at the eastern outskirts of Levis, QC. After Ardas, the runners proceeded through the narrow streets to the waterfront where a Ferry transported the runners across to Quebec City.

The city of Quebec, the gateway for pioneers and explorers coming to Canada, was a beautiful and impressive site to see from the same vantage point as it would have been to the earlier visitors to this new world in the last few centuries.

The runners proceeded through the narrow downtown streets of Quebec. There were very steep sections passing the old city walls and then along the Plains of Abraham before heading westwards along the northern shores of the St. Lawrance.
