Stage 19
Brockville, ON to Shannonville, ON

The East Team woke up to a bright sunny day and the temperature was perfect for their last few kilometers. Beginning just west of Brockville after doing the ardas, the runners enjoyed their final stretches along Highway 2 as they passed through Gananoque with the 1000 islands on the left and then through Kingston where Lake Ontario narrows and becomes the St. Lawrence River.

Kingston, the former capital city of Canada, was much enjoyed by all the runners as they saw historical buildings and passed in front of CFB Kingston. After running through the city and slightly beyond to help the next team, they returned to a lakeside park in Kingston where coach bus of the Centre Team had arrived.

The two groups became acquainted and had the lunch that the Centre Team had brought along with them. Soon after seeing the park and the shores of Lake Ontario, the East Team passed on some advice along with the Nishan Sahib and wished the Centre Team well as they begin their long journey to Brandon, Manitoba.

Tired and looking forward to getting home, the East Team boarded and relaxed in the coach bus and left for Toronto as the Centre Team moved their baggage to the run vehicles. Once the logistics were sorted out, the energetic Centre Team figured out the relay system and ran through Napanee before finishing off for the day.

We would like to thank the Belleville community for their warm welcome, generosity and hospitality. The food, gas, as well as accommodation at the Travelodge were provided free of charge and was much appreciated by everyone.
