Stage 33
Bowker, ON to Shabaqua, ON.

The day started off with the first team having their Ardas take place at the Terry Fox Memorial look out point. With the amazing view, having the sun peaking over the far mountains, the experience became an emotional one. Terry Fox was a youth just like us with the same problems in addition to his cancer. This fact alone put all of our experiences into perspective, and allowed us to realize our fortunate lives and that the same greatness seen through Terry and people like our ten Gurus can be found and is defiantly in us all. As the day went by, both teams continued to push through gaining great mileage even with slightly sick runners, and due to the great effort and team work we were able to shorten our day. The day was shortened and the second team was not required to go back for there second shift which gave the group as a whole, time to organize a birthday celebration for our beloved Tanvir Singh Bhangoo (Tony Uncle). The cake was served to everyone and also to fellow charity travelers who are skating across Canada to raise awareness and money for the blind as the man skating was blind himself.

After the celebration, we all enjoyed another hearty Indian meal served by Anju Agarwal at her home. She is the President of the Indo Canadian Organization of Thunder Bay, a fellow South Asian community member. The food was great and was prepared with lots of love and enjoyed by all the runners. The family also donated money towards the Children’s Run Across Canada. During this time, the runners shared their stories and special things they have experienced along the way.
