Stage 34
McMunn, MB to Transcona, MB.

Today the team headed out early morning at sunrise, the temperatures were very mild and excellent for running. It was also the day we needed to get to the City Limits of Winnipeg. The run started heading north on Hwy 11 from the Trans Canada Highway and then west along Hwy 15 directly into Winnipeg. The route was chosen as it was less travelled than the Trans Canada Highway. The little traffic, excellent running weather and being the last of the full days of the run before the west team take over the reigns meant the runners gave their all. The Blue Team that went first, ran a total of 67 miles and this encouraged the Yellow Team to do even more and they finished with a total of 80 miles. This was achieved by the youth running together over long spells. Many achieved personal bests some running 2 miles other going onto 13 miles the same as a half marathon. It was good to see the friendly competition and most of all personal bests as they realized they could do this and broke down their own mental barriers.

To add to the fun two bear cubs crossed the path of the runners but were too quick for the cameras to capture. We also had some dogs give chase to us on the highway that we could see in the distance but then they gave up. Close to the City Limits MLA Mohinder Saran joined the runners to show his support. In the evening the group went to the Hampton Inn in Winnipeg and got cleaned up for two evening programs. Some of the participants went to Dhamaa Radio Program and explained about the run to host Bhupinder Toor and asked for support from the sangat both to come out tomorrow morning at the Manitoba Legislative Building and then in the evening at Guru Nanak Darbar to see a presentation of the run including photos and videos. The second group headed of to the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar where they joined in the evening service and langar.

Today remote from the run team our West Team gathered at Scarborough Gurdwara and left on a coach for the switch that will happen on Saturday night. It will be a busy weekend as the two teams transition and move through Winnipeg.
