Stage 46
Swift Current, SK to Maple Creek, SK.

Today the yellow team started off bright and early at 6:00 am in Swift Current. we started off with ardas done by Paneet and the run began for the day with Amanjit. The weather made for a challenging day because it was very windy. However, we had a new runner, Sandeep, who joined us by flying in from Toronto yesterday. After three hours, the blue team relieved the yellow team who went off for lunch. We were very surprised to see Jagjeet and Manpreet Randhawa and their son Parminder who drove 3 hours from Regina just to serve us lunch. We very much appreciated the daal and delicious matar paneer. The team would like to thank the family and the community of Regina for the continuous support hundreds of kilometres away from their city.

The yellow team then welcomed Parminder to join them on the run as he wanted to experience it first hand. He ran 2.5 km with the team. We enjoyed his company for the time he was with us. As the yellow team proceeded, we had some competition from our 4 legged prairie friends, the cows, who ran alongside the runners in their fields for almost two kilometres. We also saw horses, lamas and a deer.

At the end of the final shift, the blue team met with Anne Weigerben, the mayor of Maple Creek, who had some words of encouragement and pins for passing through their town. We’d like to thank the mayor for her hospitality.

On our way to the hotel, we drove into Alberta where we took pictures and were greeted by a prairie dog who popped out of its hole.

Although the weather continued to be chilly throughout the day, it failed to bring down the teams determination to finish the day on a positive note. After dinner, both teams enjoyed the evening, spending time in the pool and hot tub as well as a game of cards. We are all hoping for nicer weather tomorrow!!!
