Stage 55
Salmon Arm, BC to Kamloops, BC.

We started off fairly early in Salmon Arm, we had a bit of a rough start because of the cold weather. Luckily though for us as the sun came up quick and it warmed up fast. The weather today was amazing as the high for the day was around 30 degrees Celsius. We started off as we always do with the Ardas which was done by Aman. The morning team were very fortunate in their run as they passed by the beauties of the mountains and all the bodies of water. They mostly ran in singles because all the roadway lanes where very narrow and winding; and it would have been dangerous to have run in groups. Today though, we were fortunate to not have to skip any roads because of any dangerous routes. At one point, the runners even saw smoke rising from a few of the hills, remnants of the forest fires that are being fought in various parts of British Columbia. Some even saw helicopters collecting water from the lake and dropping it over the small remaining fires. Towards the end of the morning shift there was a big group run which is always a lot of fun. The reason being is because it is when everyone gets to give each other that motivation and pushes to go the extra mile. The hotel that we are staying on for two nights is actually owned by Harjot’s aunt. It is a Canadian Coast Inn, but is by far one of the nicest hotels that we have been able to stay in. As we arrived from the last run we were greeted warm heartedly by the staff. We also went to the local Gurdwara tonight in Kamloops to have langar and meet the sangat. There, Paneet gave a wonderful speech about the GGSCF and why we are running across Canada along with Amanjit who gave a slideshow of how far we have gone. There were not very many people there tonight, but we have been told that tomorrow we are expecting more people to come meet us and talk about the run & the GGSCF.
