On April 29^th, Sikhs across the GTA gathered to celebrate the 313^th anniversary of the Khalsa. It was a cool but sunny afternoon as the Sri Guru Granth Sahib and sangat proceeded in the Nagar Kirtan, passing along five kilometres of Toronto’s streets from the CNE to City Hall. About 10,000 people participated in the parade at the CNE and more joined in along the route while lots more waited for the arrival at City Hall. This year, Read more…

This year, the annual Baisakhi Food Drive took place from April 13^th to April 29^th. Boxes were placed at Scarborough Gurdwara and sangat donated generously towards the collection for the Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank. Altogether, 2915lbs of food was collected for the thousands of people across Toronto who rely on food banks to feed their families. The Foundation would like to thank everyone who contributed.

On April 28^th, members of the Foundation got together and went bowling at PlayTime Bowl near Yorkdale Mall. There was a lot of fun and excitement as the 11 players that came showed off their skills, or lack thereof, at knocking down the pins at the end of the lanes. At the London Marathon on April 22^nd, Fauja Singh finished the marathon in 7h 49m 21s at the young age of 101 years. He broke his own record from last year in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon when he was only 100 years old. This was his last marathon and he wanted to do it on home soil, but he will continue running shorter distances.
