monthly_meetingSaturday August 6th volunteers of the GGSCF met in the multi-purpose room at Scarborough Gurudwara for their monthly meeting and hoped to meet a special guest who wanted to meet the youth during his visit to the Gurudwara. Ranbir started the meeting with a presentation regarding his trip to one of the charities the GGSCF works with to sponsor children from. Monday, August 1, 2011.

This year we have organized a run, race, jog or walk challenge that will take place Sunday, August 28th. The route is along the Mississauga Waterfront in the town of Port Credit. The registration fee for this year’s event is $15. Each participant is urged to collect pledges from their family and friends to reach our fundraising target of $5000.

img_3528sOn Sunday July 24th among the kabadhi and tug-of-war event the GGSCF children collected change from the spectators. In total $2300 was collected. The GGSCF were also presented with a plaque by the Brampton Sports Club for the humanitarian work that they do. The GGSCF would like to acknowledge the support of the Brampton Sports Club each year with this fund raising event which helps the children the foundations supports around the world in third world countries. simg_3514June 10, 2011, the Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation had a booth set up at the annual Can Sikh Kabaddi Tournament in Wildwood Park, Malton. The event ran over the course of the weekend with the Foundation serving langer to spectators and collecting change. The weekend proved to be successful with the Foundation collecting close to $3500 in donations and change. Thank you to all those who gave donations and change and for those who volunteered to help. img_3406sOn Saturday July 9th seniors from across Toronto took a day trip to Niagara Falls. The Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation has been organizing this trip for many years but what made this trip different was that the seniors came from across the GTA. Two buses picked up seniors from Dixie Gurdwara, Mayfield Gurdwara, Malton Gurdwara, Rexdale Gurdwara and Scarborough Gurdwara. Read more…

img_5833_01July 1, 2011, the Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation participated in the annual Canada Day Parade held in Scarborough, Ontario. This year, the foundation members met up at Scarborough Town Centre to decorate the two vehicles that would be part of the parade. Sunday, April 24, 2011.

On Sunday April 24, 2011 thousands of Sikhs from across Ontario gathered for the annual Nagar Kirtan from the CNE to Queen’s Park. The weather was great day as the colourful procession of the Guru Granth Sahib and sangat passed through the streets of Toronto after a morning diwan at the Better Living Centre. cn_tower_2011On Saturday April 16th, 39 climbers from the Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation took part in the CN Tower Stair Climb for the World Wildlife Fund. Although it was a wet and windy day this did not dampen their spirits as they tackled the 1776 steps to the main observation deck.
