enlight annual Run for Kids Education
On a wet morning runners and walkers gathered for the 4th Annual Run organized by enlight in support of helping kids with education. As soon as the event started the sky cleared as participants completed 5km or 10km distance around Chinguacousy Park in Brampton. This year enlight fundraised for Indspire a Canadian charity that supports scholarships for indigenous students from the Inuit and Metis First Nation people. This was a excellent way to support the first National Day of Truth and Reconciliation held on September 30, 2021 further to the grave recent news and history being shared about the legacies left from the Indian Residential School System. Paul Bains shared a heartfelt message about the land which we call home and the sad legacy of the colonial system that still exists in society. GGSCF made a donation to this very important cause and some volunteers were honoured to help with the logistics of the event. The event was appreciated by all those who took part, it was a good way to keep active/fit and help a great cause.
