This year Inspirational Steps (made up of the following organizations, Enlight, Pingalwara, Drug Awareness, Tarksheel Society, Sahaita, GGSCF), held the Brampton Half Marathon at the Terry Fox Stadium in Chinguacousy Park, Brampton. The name was chosen following a grant obtained from the City of Brampton to help cover the costs as Bramalea Road was closed to facilitate the event (estimated around $50,000). In total 510 participants crossed the finish line while competing in a half marathon, 10km, 5km races, with additional seniors and toddlers also competing in a 1000m and 400m race within the stadium. GGSCF volunteers managed the logistics of the event as these get even more complicated with road closures, water stations and managing the different participants. Running on a closed road was a new to many participants and it was extremely hot on the asphalt without the shade of trees, but was very successful with very positive feedback from all those who took part.
