The challenge at this year’s Nagar Kirtan was the change in venue, from the Better Living Centre to the Enercare Building at the CNE. Although the distance between the locations is close, it lead to some confusion as the sangat was dropped off at different locations at the CNE, meaning some elderly and those with children had to walk some distance to find the morning diwan and some got lost in the new space. On the plus side, the Enercare Building is much larger and better in being newer and cleaner, which meant all the sangat could be accommodated inside rather than spilling out onto the adjoining streets. The weather being better meant much more turnout which lead to the usual problem with the 100+ buses transporting people to the event. The morning went fine, but the evening it took much longer to get everyone home with the last bus leaving in the dark at around 8:30pm (typically we finish between 6:30pm to 7:00pm). This year marked the 351th Anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s birthday which was much enjoyed by all those who came to the Nagar Kirtan.
