It is almost coming up to one year while the Gurdwara food bank has been in operation. GGSCF volunteers runs this every weekend Sundays 3pm to 4pm when basic dry food are available to students in need. The food banks is run from donations made by the sangat with support from Scarborough Gurdwara (when dome basic needs are not available). Other local business men have also donated with supplies, food and some clothing also. Additional support has been provided to single new mothers and some new families. As the government now changes the rules and reduced the number of student and permanent residents claims the situation for some will become even more difficult. The volunteers also provide details of another local food bank that can provide them with milk, vegetables and fruit. As Sikhs we are very fortunate to be able to come to the Gurdwara and get the support of the sangat during our times of need, what Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught us, Sacha Saudha. Those in need are just like us who are able to donate, our children or our brothers and sisters.
