On this cool Sunday afternoon, a tribute 5km run was held in memory of Flying Sikh Milkha Singh at Mayfield Gurdwara. Dharampaul Singh of the Drug Awareness Society took the initiative and was helped by volunteers of the Pingalwara Society and the GGSCF. About 50 people ran and walked the route along Airport, Country Side, Torbram and Mayfield roads during a windy and wet afternoon. Dhian Singh Sohal was specially honoured as he had just completed the Boston Marathon the previous weekend. It was good to see so many people brave the elements to pay tribute to this athlete who was overcome by the pandemic affecting us all across the world.
