1 August 2014

img_3711sOn August 1st, 2014 the children and youth of the Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation began their 15th Anniversary Relay Run from Windsor to Toronto. It was in 1999, when the youth decided to complete a similar event from Toronto to Ottawa that spanned 7 days. The youth were very excited and looking forward to this four day trek that commenced promptly at 6:00am from Ambassador Bridge looking over the Detroit skyline. Many of the sangat from the Windsor area were on hand to greet and cheer the participants at the start line.
For the first day, the participants exceeded the expectations and completed approximately 109km. We were all welcomed by the local sangat for lunch which was very energizing for our second legs of running. Mr.Paramjeet Singh Ashat and Mr.Jeevan Singh Gill and family were very kind in treating us for lunch. Bhagwant Singh, the secretary of the Windsor Gurughar was also very welcoming and encouraging as they hosted the foundation for two nights. Additionally, the local sangat donated $1500 to the Foundation. We were very pleased with our stay in Windsor and look forward to meeting the local sangat of London tomorrow.
