The annual food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank was held from October 28th to November 13th at Scarborough Gurdwara on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurpurab. This year the Guru Nanak walk was on a rough trail along the Rouge River. The ground was wet and slippery from the previous day’s rain as twenty-eight participants completed the 11km hike. This year the annual seniors trip was held to celebrate Canada 150. Three school buses of seniors from Dixie Gurdwara and Scarborough Gurdwara went to Niagara Falls and also visited the Gurdwara there where they had langar. At Wildwood Park in Malton, CanSikh held their annual sports tournament at which there were races, soccer and kabaddi tournaments over the weekend. Volunteers served food and tea to those attending and also held a collection for the the GGSCF and, in total, $3240 was raised to help the children that the GGSCF supports. Read more…
